Find Assistance

As Thanksgiving approaches, we will experience our busiest time of the year. Please share grace with us as we provide assistance for your family. It is our goal to offer turkeys to every family that comes to for assistance in November. We cannot guarantee EVERY family, but we will guarantee a turkey for the first 25 families each day in November.

Families are able to receive assistance at Helping Hands on a rolling monthly basis.  Families may come to the front entrance (our green awning on the Right side of the building) and a volunteer will greet you.

Helping Hands of Goose Creek is an emergency food pantry providing groceries and resources to families of Goose Creek and the Low Country Tri-County.  We currently serve nearly 500 families a month between the 4 programs we offer.

1. ALL families qualify for our Choice Pantry Program.

This program provides a family with fresh produce, frozen meat, bakery products and toiletries and a predetermined weight of non-perishable items they can shop for our mini grocery store.  Families can choose their foods and we offer self shopping OR shopping with a list if desired.

SUBSIDY’s Available at Helping Hands:

The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP)

If a family’s income meets the TEFAP income guidelines (TEFAP LINK), they would qualify and receive the USDA food subsidy in addition to their Choice Pantry Shop.

ALIFT for ALICE families

ALICE is an acrostic meaning Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed, in essence a working poor family.  If the family is considered an ALICE family income standards (LEARN ABOUT ALICE HERE), the family would qualify for our ALIFT subsidy, which removes the USDA subsidy and provides a $50 community-funded grocery gift card in addition to their Choice Pantry Shop.

CSFP–Senior Box program

If a family includes a senior that falls in line with the CSFP income guidelines (CSFP GUIDELINES), they would qualify for a Senior Box which equals about 35 additional pounds of food each month in addition to their USDA supplement AND their Choice Pantry Shop.
